Was SMART, Schweden und der Mondkolonie miteinander zu tun haben, darüber habe ich auch gestaunt, als ich über einen ironischen Artikel von register.co.uk gestolpert bin, der auf SMART – Swedish Manufacturing Research and Technology Center (nicht die Automarke SMART) und dessen Vision einer self-sufficient lunar colony verweist. Neben Nebensächlichkeiten, wie einem Helium3 Fusionsreaktor und dem finanziellen Aspekt wird der Projektfahrplan wie folgend aufgezeichnet:

It should be an international project, a world-wide initiative in four distinct phases with one continuous end result, where the outcome would benefit trade, research and mankind at large. These four stages are:

o Feasibility Study (2006-08);
o System Demonstrator (2009-12);
o Terrestrial Validator (2013-19);
o Lunar Construction and successive immigration (2018-2024);

which finally leads to a
