(en/de) Lately I was musing about a quote I heard some times ago.

Never argue with an idiot. He will lower you to his level and beat you with experience. –

A similair quote of Mark Twain, one of my favorite authors, says

Don’t argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference. –
Streite dich nie mit einem Dummkopf; es könnte sein, dass die Zuschauer den Unterschied nicht bemerken. (Mark Twain)

I like a lot the irony of the first quote. As I read it the first time, I had to smile. The second one is less direct in its saying but much more subtile.

Kürzlich dachte ich über die Aussage des ersten Zitats nach. Mir gefällt dessen Ironie, die mich schmunzeln liess, wobei das Zweite von Mark Twain, einer meiner Lieblingsautoren, um einiges subtiler ist.

Besides, the first quote seems to be a favourite one of busy forum writers using it quite often in forum signatures.
